Clinical Informatics Specialist (Onsite)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Systems Administration & Workflow Optimization

  • Assist in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing EMR/EDR workflows supporting medical, dental, behavioral health, outreach services, care-team-based models, and access initiatives.
  • Analyze clinical and operational workflows to identify opportunities for system improvements, standardization, and efficiency.
  • Support system upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation, and documentation of changes.

Maintain user accounts, permissions, security roles, and access controls in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

User Support, Training & Change Management

  • Provide first-line EMR/EDR system support and troubleshooting for end users; escalate unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, reference guides, and workflow documentation.
  • Apply structured change-management methodologies to support user adoption and minimize operational disruption.
  • Lead and support onboarding and ongoing training for providers and staff related to EMR/EDR functionality, updates, and workflow changes.

Technology, Interfaces & System Integrations

  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of clinical system integrations and interface connections.
  • Monitor and resolve interface issues, including failed messages, data mismatches, and workflow misalignments.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and system vendors to ensure accurate, stable, and timely data exchange across systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot clinical software, hardware, and peripheral devices (e.g., scanners, printers, signature pads, workstations).
  • Diagnose system performance issues, equipment failures, and connectivity concerns, documenting trends and solutions.

Data, Quality, Compliance & Project Support

  • Assist with data validation, reporting, and analytics to support Quality Improvement, Risk Management, HRSA, UDS, and population health initiatives.
  • Monitor data quality and support standardization efforts across clinical documentation workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, HRSA, and other applicable privacy, security, and data governance requirements.
  • Participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing clinical informatics and health IT projects.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, challenges, and updates effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.

Performs other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with EMR/EDR systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Prior experience as a super user, trainer, workflow champion, or application support specialist strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting system integrations, interfaces, and technical troubleshooting required.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting clinical software, hardware, and peripheral devices preferred.
  • Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or safety-net healthcare environment preferred.
