Behavioral Health Provider (PMHNP, NP or PA)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults in accordance with scope of practice, licensure, certification, and organizational policies.
- Performs comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health evaluations, including obtaining medical, psychiatric, social, and family histories.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic and laboratory tests as appropriate to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Assesses, diagnoses, and develops individualized treatment plans for patients with behavioral health conditions.
- Prescribes, adjusts, and monitors medications in accordance with current clinical standards, state regulations, and organizational protocols.
- Provides medication management services and evaluates treatment effectiveness through ongoing patient follow-up.
- Collaborates with patients, families, guardians, and support systems regarding treatment planning and progress, as clinically appropriate and permitted by law.
- Participates in a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care and collaborates with behavioral health counselors, primary care providers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborates with supervising or collaborating physicians as required by South Carolina law and organizational policy.
- Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, and referrals for specialized, emergency, or inpatient psychiatric services when indicated.
- Maintains timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including all required billing and coding information.
- Participates in quality improvement, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes.
- Actively participates in Provider Meetings, Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI) activities, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, and other required organizational meetings.
- Participates in the Behavioral Health after-hours call rotation, as assigned.
- Maintains compliance with all federal, state, payer, and organizational requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
o Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
o Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
o Physician Assistant (PA)
- Active DEA registration required.
- South Carolina Controlled Substance Registration required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Must maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.
