Certified Medical Assistant - Family Medicine

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain vital signs and patient history.
  • Prepare patients and assist with exams and procedures.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed and within scope of practice.
  • Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing.
  • Provide basic wound care and monitor patient status.
  • Communicate results to patients per provider direction.
  • Assist with patient and family education for continuation of care.
  • Assist with precepting new clinical employees and CMA students.
  • Document all care in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Follow infection control policies.
  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned by the healthcare provider or supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by CAAHEP, ABHES, another U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency, a South Carolina Department of Education-approved Health Sciences Program, a U.S. military medical assisting program, a Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeship Program, or an employer-sponsored medical assisting training program aligned with a nationally accredited certification examination.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through a certifying organization approved by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and South Carolina Board of Nursing (e.g., AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA). Certification must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience preferred
  • Current CPR Certification required.
